Not only is this air fryer recipe easy and quick to make, but it’s the perfect snack! Make this buffalo tofu as a Keto healthy Superbowl snack, party appetizer, or an after-work snack. These little buffalo cubes are perfect for munching on because there are few carbs in the recipe. Make sure you like spicy food - this recipe is not for the weak-hearted when it comes to buffalo sauce! You’ll work up a sweat, so enjoy a cool dipping sauce with your tofu. Ranch, blue cheese, sour cream, or Greek yogurt are all acceptable for cooling down spicy buffalo sauce. Remember, this will make a great Keto Superbowl food if you’re looking for a healthy snack to fit the bill!

What is buffalo sauce made of?

Buffalo sauce is simply made of two ingredients: hot sauce and butter. Just combine the two ingredients in a saucepan, and heat them together. Let the sauce reduce slightly so the melted butter emulsifies with the sauce and thickens.

What type of hot sauce should I use?

The most important thing to note is to not use Tabasco sauce to make buffalo sauce. Hot sauce will be labeled as exactly that or as “wing sauce”. There are multiple brands of hot sauce you can choose from at the grocery store, or choose your preferred brand if you have one.

What type of air fryer do I need?

All air fryer recipes on Carb Manager should be universal for all types of air fryers. However, depending on your style of air fryer, you may need to adjust cooking times by 1 or 2 minutes. If this is your first time making this recipe, keep an eye on your tofu while it fries if possible.

  • Step 1

Combine the hot sauce and butter in a small saucepan on your stove. Simmer the ingredients until the butter melts and can be whisked into the hot sauce. You can refer to the introduction for more information on what type of hot sauce to use in the recipe.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Leave the hot sauce aside to cool and thicken. Prepare the tofu by absorbing all the excess water with paper towels. Then, cut the tofu into small cubes in the amount you’ve selected for the recipe. Add the tofu to a mixing bowl and gently toss the cubes with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Turn on your air fryer to preheat at 350 F (180 C) for at least 5 minutes. Pour about half your buffalo sauce over the tofu cubes, and gently toss the sauce and tofu together. Arrange the coated tofu cubes on your air fryer tray.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Cook the tofu in your air fryer for 12 minutes. Place the fried tofu back into your original mixing bowl to cool for just a couple of minutes. Toss the warm tofu with the remaining buffalo sauce and serve.

Let me just say... WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS BEFORE?! I will admit, I tweaked the recipe a bit.. but it was in the same ballpark.. and was amazing! I mixed some zero carb ranch powder in with it! Very, very good!

I was worried this was going to be too hot but it was just right. Served the remaining sauce as a dipping sauce so we could add more or less to our own taste.
