Can I use different types of cheese in this recipe?

Absolutely! While Gruyere cheese adds a rich and nutty flavor, you can experiment with other cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, or even Parmesan to suit your taste preferences.

Can I substitute chicken thighs with chicken breast?

Yes, you can substitute chicken thighs with chicken breast if you prefer. Just keep in mind that chicken breast tends to cook faster, so adjust the cooking time accordingly to avoid overcooking.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

While this dish is best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare the components ahead of time and assemble them when ready to eat. Store the cooked chicken and vegetables in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave before serving, then add the cheese sauce just before serving for the best taste and texture.

Is this recipe suitable for meal prep?

Absolutely! This Keto One-Pan Gruyere Chicken recipe is perfect for meal prep. Simply divide the cooked chicken and vegetables into individual meal containers and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat when ready to eat and enjoy a delicious and nutritious keto meal on the go.

Can I freeze leftovers?

While you can freeze leftovers, keep in mind that the texture of the sauce may change slightly upon thawing and reheating. For best results, freeze the cooked chicken and vegetables without the cheese sauce. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating on the stovetop or in the microwave. Prepare fresh cheese sauce to drizzle over the reheated dish for optimal flavor.

How can I customize this recipe to suit my preferences?

You can easily customize this recipe to suit your taste preferences and dietary needs. Experiment with different vegetables such as bell peppers, broccoli, spinach, or cauliflower florets. Swap chicken thighs for chicken breast, pork chops, or tofu for a vegetarian option. Try different cheeses like Swiss, Fontina, or Monterey Jack for a different flavor profile.

Season the chicken thighs with ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp black pepper on both sides. Heat olive oil and butter in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the meat and cook for 2-3 minutes per side. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover with a lid. Continue to cook for another 15-20 minutes or until completely cooked through and tender. Remove the meat from the pan leaving some of the grease inside the pan. Set the meat aside.

Meanwhile, cut the prepared meat into smaller pieces. Add to the pan. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the liquid reduces in half. Taste and optionally season with some more salt or black pepper.

What type of onions are being peeled in instruction point 2 and how many grams as they are not listed in the ingredients list? Also, what is garnic powder in instruction point 3, garlic powder I guess?

Delicious !! I used cauliflower florets instead of zucchini. Swiss Gruyere is preferred cheese for me, adds a salty profile, so go easy on adding extra. Bon appetite
