What is Keto fathead dough?

Fathead dough is a trendy type of dough made just for the Keto diet. It gets its name from the high amount of fat in the dough. Keto fathead dough is made with almond flour, egg, mozzarella, and cream cheese. It has many more uses than just pizza dough as well. You can use fathead dough to make multiple types of Keto bread, crackers, or stuffed pockets filled with meats and cheese.

Is tomato sauce Keto?

Tomatoes are Keto-friendly when consumed in moderation, like many other ingredients on the Keto diet. Plain tomato sauce either made from scratch or from a can is how you’ll get to make your pizza with the least amount of carbs. However, some store-bought pizza sauces may be similar in nutrition. You can always check the ingredients list to make sure there aren’t any added non-Keto ingredients in store-bought sauces.

Other Keto toppings to add

This Keto sheet pan pizza is simply made with sauce and cheese. You can add more toppings you enjoy to the pizza before you bake it! For protein, try cooked shredded chicken or crumbled Italian sausage. Pepperoni is always a classic too. Some Low Carb vegetables you might include are spinach, mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers.

  • Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together almond flour, salt, and baking powder to break up any crumbs. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients, then crack eggs into the well. Leave the eggs as-is, and set the bowl of ingredients aside for later. Next, add cream cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese to a pot.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Over low heat, melt the two kinds of cheese together until they combine into a single pale-white, creamy melted cheese. Make sure to stir continuously to avoid burning. Remove the melted cheese from the stove, allow it to cool for about 30 seconds, then add it to the center of the bowl of ingredients from the first step. Stir the ingredients together with a wooden spoon until a very sticky dough is formed.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Transfer the dough to a sheet of plastic wrap, wrap it, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until the dough is firm. Once firm, turn on your oven to preheat to 350 F (180 C) and line a large baking tray with parchment paper. Take your dough out of the refrigerator and turn it out onto the tray. Use your fingers to press the dough out to fill all four corners of your tray to make the pizza crust.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Spread the tomato sauce across the pizza dough, leaving empty spaces for the edges of the crust. Season the sauce with a sprinkled mixture of black pepper, oregano, onion powder, and garlic powder. Next, arrange whole leaves of basil across the sauce. Cut whole-milk mozzarella into wedges or slices, and arrange the pieces evenly across the pizza.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

Bake the pizza in your oven for 25-30 minutes or until done. For doneness, the edges of the crust will be deep golden brown and your cheese should be melted and can be slightly golden on the top as well. Let the pizza cool away from the oven for at least 5 minutes, then slice it into servings.

Too cheesy since the dough is made of cheese and then the cheese on top. Gave me a belly ache.
