Is store-bought sausage Keto?

Depending on if you purchase brand-name brats or pre-made brats from a butcher or deli counter, the ingredients inside the sausage can vary. Most pork bratwurst sausages are considered Keto because they have few carbs and include a high amount of fat for animal protein. Depending on if you have other dietary restrictions, check or ask for the ingredients of any sausages you buy that may contain gluten and fillers.

What is a California medley?

A California vegetable medley usually consists of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. You may be able to find this blend in the frozen vegetable section of your grocery store. If not, you can always make the medley yourself, now that you know the ingredients. Just make a 1:1:1 blend of the frozen vegetables.

Are carrots Low Carb?

Carrots can add some nutrition and flavor to Keto dishes. Like many other Low Carb ingredients, carrots can be enjoyed in moderation on a Keto diet. For example, if diced carrots are included in a frozen mixed medley of vegetables and are part of the total carbohydrates, this is okay.

  • Step 1

Place whole raw brats in the center of a large skillet. Open up a frozen bag of California medley vegetables and arrange the veggies around the brats in the skillet. Drizzle all the olive oil over just the vegetables. Begin heating the skillet on high heat on the stove.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Let the brats cook on one side until they turn golden brown, and let the veggies cook until they are thawed and tender. Flip the brats to cook on the other side. Then, sprinkle salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika over only the vegetables.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Stir the veggies around gently to distribute the oil and spices. Reduce the heat as needed to avoid burning and cook the skillet until the brats are dark golden on both sides and the veggies have started to brown with the spices. Reduce the heat to low, cut the butter into a few small pieces, and melt the butter over the vegetables. Stir the veggies gently again to coat them in the butter, then the recipe is complete.
