Best Paleo Keto Avocado Smoothie
Just like the Vietnamese avocado smoothie some of us grew up on, this cold, creamy, delicious, and slightly sweet beverage is a great paleo beverage. It makes for a great snack or breakfast full of healthy fats.
When's the best time to have this Keto smoothie?
This smoothie doesn’t have to be consumed for breakfast. Drink this avocado smoothie after a workout so the healthy fats refuel your body, as opposed to carbs. For the same reasons, this is a healthy smoothie to drink at lunchtime. You can even cut the recipe in half and enjoy a small smoothie as a Keto snack.
How to pick the perfect avocado for this recipe?
For this recipe, you can use slightly under-ripe avocados that are a little greener than normal. However, the closest you can get to a perfectly ripe avocado is ideal. Leave your avocados out at room temperature until they’re just close to feeling ripe. Then, put them in your refrigerator where they will stay the perfect texture for about 2 days. You can pull one out of the refrigerator, slice it open, and blend it into your smoothie.
What other ingredients can you add to this Keto-friendly smoothie?
You don’t want to add too much more to your smoothie. However, you can make a couple of changes to alter the taste to your preferences. If you’d like, replace the almond milk with oat milk or coconut milk. If you have carbs to spare, add a handful of blueberries to your smoothie for added antioxidants. Vanilla extract in lieu of peppermint extract can also change the flavors to your liking.

Added 1 tablespoon of instant coffee, 1 oz of baby spinach and half a cup of water. Tasted like coffee.

Can Truvia sweetner be an option to use in recipes?

I would use a little less of the sugar sub, but overall this is soooo good

Absolutely delicious 😋

The total carbs on this recipe are way too high. 1/2 of an avocado is only 5.9 g
BlueNurse210 5 months ago
It shows 36g of sugar alcohol. Probably from so much swerve.

I thought this was a fun recipe. As noted by others, the recommended sweetener makes it a bit too sweet for me so next time planning to reduce. Smooth and creamy, ate with a spoon. Going to make this tomorrow for a fun morning snack for my daughter and add in some other goodies.

Creamy and smell nice but a little too sweet for my taste next time I'll put less sweetnener.

I was thinking that 1/4 cup of sweetener seems like a lot!

I don't generally like advocados - this was delicious very creamy , added chia seed ,pumpkin and almond seeds , 1/4 advocado ,lots of ice no sweetener.Too thick for me added filtered water. I halved 1 serving size ie 1/4 advocado etc - drank as an after gym smoothie and as a snack later in the day

I cut back on the swerve, I didn’t have the exact swerve, I had confectioners swerve, I used 6 tbsps and that was sweet enough for me. It was also too thick so I added 1/4 cup more almond milk. It was perfect,

I love avocados so this was very tasty. I didn’t add any sweeteners. I had it in a bowl with some sliced almonds.

I doubled the recipe but used 6 tsps of sweetener. It was really good. Not too sweet. Perfect combo with the amount of avo & almond milk! Thank you!

Very nice, I add small drop of peppermint essence just to pep the flavour but lovely in the summer sitting in th garden. Takes minutes to make and I also only use half the sugar.

This a soooo delicious! I used half the amount of the sweetener and it was still a bit too much. Next time I will cut back some more. I also mixed in my powdered greens for the perfect morning smoothie!

42 grams of carbs?? 😳 Is that a typo? It’s twice what I’m allowed in a day.

you have to calculate by using Net carbs. Not total carbs
OutstandingKale195096 3 years ago
It's only 1gram net carbs

Don't forget you subtract fiber plus sugar alcohols from the total carbs to get your net carb. 🙂

Very good. I substituted one level monk fruit scoop of that natural sweetener (instead of the Swerve). That gave the smoothie a sweet taste. You may prefer to use less monk fruit than what I used.

This was very nice! It was fine with erythritol (which has only 70% sweetness as swerve). I added a little fresh mint for a bit of extra yum!
