This spiced tuna mayo makes a great Keto lunch filling or topping, packed with fats and flavor. Our low carb tuna mayo is prepared with creamy mayonnaise, earthy tahini, aromatic harissa paste, a hint of lemon, and fresh parsley. This spicy twist on a classic tuna mayo is perfect spread over low carb bread, layered over sliced avocado halves, or heaped into grilled zucchini boats.

What is Harissa Paste?

Harissa paste is a spicy blend that originates from North Africa. A basic harissa paste is prepared with a blend of hot chilies, a good helping of garlic, and a little acidity such as lemon juice. Many store-bought and online recipes for this spicy paste vary and can include additional spices and seasonings. Harissa paste is a great pantry staple for adding a touch of spice to your sauces, soups, dressings and stews.

What Kind of Mayonnaise Should I Use?

We have used a sugar-free store-bought mayonnaise for this low carb recipe. You can use any sugar-free Keto-friendly mayo you prefer, or even use your own homemade mayonnaise recipe.   • Step 1

    Flake the canned tuna into a mixing bowl. Add the mayonnaise, tahini, harissa paste and lemon juice. Stir everything together well to combine.

    Finely chop the fresh parsley. Add the parsley to the bowl with the other ingredients. Stir the parsley throughout the tuna mayo.

    Taste the tuna mayo and adjust seasonings and flavors as desired. You can add salt if needed. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
