Ingredients

  • Green Beans (string Beans), Raw

    Green Beans (string Beans), Raw

    5 ounce

  • Olive Oil

    Olive Oil

    2 tablespoon

  • Garlic

    Garlic

    1 clove

  • Red Onion

    Red Onion

    ½ small

  • Step 1

    Thinly slice the red onion. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over a medium heat. Add the onion and sweat for a minute until just tender. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook the onions until golden and starting to caramelize.

    Whilst the onions are cooking, add the green beans to a pan of boiling water and simmer for 4-5 minutes until just tender. Drain completely.

    Once the onion is golden, crush the garlic and add to the pan with the remaining oil. Sweat gently until tender and the onion starts to crisp.

    Add the beans to the skillet and toss in the garlic, onion and oil, cooking for a minute or two until heated through.

        I added a pinch of bicarbonate, for the green beans to get soft quicker.

          Green beans need to be cooked a little bit longer in my opinion.
