Keto Jalapeno Poppers

136 ratings

It’s always a treat to learn that a well-loved snack is already keto-friendly in its original form. Jalapeno Poppers, when baked instead of fried, are a perfect snack or appetizer for your ketogenic macro count! Jalapenos are a low-carb food, and they get a boost of protein when wrapped in bacon. Try not to eat them all in one sitting!

  • Step 1

Pre-heat an oven to 375 degrees, and prepare a sheet tray with a sheet of parchment paper. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and shredded cheddar. You can use the back of a spoon or a fork to soften the cream cheese and make the mixture pliable.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Prepare the jalapenos by removing the stems. Slice each one in half, and remove the seeds.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Spoon the cheese filling into each jalapeno half, until all the filling is used up.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Wrap each filled jalapeno half with a slice of bacon. Make sure to tuck the ends under the jalapenos and that the cheese filling is completely covered. Arrange the wrapped jalapenos on the prepared sheet tray.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

Bake the jalapeno poppers for 30 minutes or until the bacon is fully cooked and golden brown on the edges. Enjoy!

I’ve made these many times. They are ready good. When I needed to snap back after a carb binge, this was very helpful. Now that I’m only 10 total carbs/day I make something similar but use ground sausage to hold the cheese instead.

Calories seem awfully high for this recipe. Is this accurate nutritional information?

I make these with turkey bacon because I avoid pork products. This cuts the calorie count down a bit. Higher fat foods are more dense with calories. Bacon made from pigs, along with cream cheese and cheddar, in one delicious recipe, really push the calories up!

I calculated by hand to check for you and this is spot on. 43 calories per slice of bacon, x10; 6.99 oz cheeses at approximately 100 calories an ounce; 4 calories per jalapeno. So 430 + 700 + 20 = 1134; 1134÷5 = 226.8. So here's the thing: sometimes we lose track of just how many calories are in something, because they look so innocent. That's how we end up with too much 'baggage'. Hope this helped

I've used this recipe for years. it's very quick, very easy and almost foolproof. Two cautions; Don't overcook the papers and after you have seeded the peppers, don't touch any tender body parts untill you have wàshed your hands with soap and water 2X

Very good. But better if you add a bit guerre cheese instead of cheddar, a sprinkle of garlic granules & pepper, and homemade pico (Texas style).

This was amazing. I added garlic & onion powder to the cream cheese mix & used more rindless bacon.

I never get tired of these. In summer I had a very productive jalapeño pepper plant, and I ate these every day, for weeks! Cooked them in a toaster oven. 😋

The directions mention cream cheese spread but that's not showing up in the list of ingredients for me.

I used a serrated grapefruit spoon to scrape out the seeds and inner skin of the peppers. Be careful not to get the oils on your face. Scrape against your body.😉Delicious recipe!

Very good, but I thought there was blue cheese chunks instead of cheddar and a blue cheese dressing when I first read the recipe. Now I can’t find that one, however this was very good.

I followed the suggestions in comments and added the bacon to the cream cheese mixture. My. Gosh. These are amazing. My hubby is BLOWN AWAY by them. And honestly? So am I. This was a major win. Highly recommended.
