Keto 5-Ingredient Turmeric Smoothie

59 ratings

Turmeric has wonderful health benefits, and this wonder-spice’s popularity is slowly increasing across all diets and cuisines. The yellow-orange powder has a slightly earthy and naturally sweet scent to it. You don’t need to consume a lot to have all the health benefits that come with turmeric. Just a sprinkle enhances this 5-ingredient smoothie. Drink it for breakfast or after a vigorous workout for a little pick-me-up. Along with the turmeric are healthy carrots, cool cucumbers for refreshing flavor, and a bit of almond milk in the smoothie. You can make the smoothie as thick as you want with ice or as thin as you want with more almond milk.

What are the health benefits of turmeric?

What makes turmeric so powerful is its curcumin. It’s most known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Taking anti-inflammatory spices and herbs may help your digestive health and keep your digestive tract regular.

What are the health benefits of carrots?

Carrots are eaten for their high amounts of Vitamin A, Vitamin K, and calcium. They’re also known for having beta-carotenes, which may help prevent diabetes. The carrots in this smoothie may aid in your blood sugar levels.

What are the health benefits of ginger?

Ginger has been used in medicine for centuries. Ginger root is believed to help with digestive health (like if you’re feeling nauseous). It can also aid as an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant, much like turmeric.

  • Step 1

If you own a high-quality blender, you can combine all ingredients at once. Pulse the ingredients until they’re smooth. If you feel the smoothie is too thick, add water or more almond milk.

If you own a bullet blender or a similar small appliance, combine the carrots and cucumber in a food processor first. Pulse the ingredients until you get a soft pulp with little to no chunks. Then you can add the ground ingredients to your bullet blender.

  • Step 3

Add the almond milk, ginger, and turmeric to the bullet blender. Blend the smoothie until smooth. Like Step 1, you can add more almond milk or water to thin out the smoothie.

I just added a few lemon juice drops, pepper and cinnamon. I do like it although one cup of smoothie is 20% of my carbs

It’s not bad, but the milk actually mutes the flavors and it came out thin for a smoothie. I’d actually call this a juice or add something to thicken it (chia or something). Probably won’t do this one again. Wish you could dislike a recipe so it wouldn’t show up in a meal plan.

I can’t! I’m forcing myself to finish this. Definitely will not make/drink this again. I don’t like to alter any recipe, made this exactly and nope not a fan

I like this one. I added a bit of cinnamon, cardamom, and a dash of black pepper, which compliments the ginger and cinnamon, kind of like a cold chai (the anti-inflammatory properties of cumin are activated only when combined with black pepper), as well as 2.5t. of Lakanto golden monkfruit sweetener. It's spicy and refreshing.

I'm struggling with this one. I should like it, the ingredients are ok but it just tastes like earthy cucumber with a heat aftertaste :(. I also added stevia and definitely needs to be chilled.

It means to limit how much you use/eat, based on how many carbs are in it.

I made it with no sweetener as I try to cut sugar as much as possible, but it was surprisingly good! Less turmeric for me tho

Definitely requires a little sweetener. Used 1 squirter of liquid Stevia. Doubled recipe and got 3-12 oz smooties. Used about 5 ice cubes too.

Not bad… Added some Stevia sweetener made it better. Did two servings at the same time so I can have the second one tomorrow morning for breakfast and it will be easy to log and already planned out. I think this will be a lot better chilled so I won’t have to wait to chill it tomorrow.

It’s a good drink, but not a a smoothie. I’m going to try it again tomorrow with a couple of tablespoons of Greek yogurt and some sweetener. Someone else mentioned avocado…anyone know how that turns out?

This is surprisingly good! I added some collagen and mct oil to mine, in addition to a little monk fruit... but it was truly good! I’ll definitely be making this again.

I wasn't sure about trying this, but I really enjoyed it. I think it would be amazing with a little sweetener and may try with other ingredients that have been suggeste d next time, but it was also good as written. Thank you.

Very tasty! Unlike the recipe mentioned here, I add a tablespoon of pure vanilla, 1/4 tablespoon of ground cinnamon and sweeten it with stevia.
