Best Keto Chaffle Burger Bun
Our Keto Chaffle Burger Buns are made from scrambling fresh eggs with coconut flour and mayonnaise to make a thin batter. The batter is poured into a hot waffle iron and sprinkled with shredded mozzarella cheese. The mozzarella cheese browns the chaffle and gives it a speckled appearance of pure deliciousness! The chaffle can be used on its own as a snack or as a carrier for mashed avocados, or as we have used them here - for burger buns!
Feel free to use a variety of cheeses
We have used shredded mozzarella cheese for this recipe, but you can substitute the shredded cheese for any variety of cheeses you love, like shredded Colby jack, pepper jack, mild cheddar, Mexican cheese, and more.
Do these freeze well?
What we love about chaffles is that they freeze incredibly well. Simply place them in an airtight bag in the freezer. To reheat them, put them in a toaster on the defrost setting. You can also reheat them in the oven or toaster oven until hot.
What can I substitute for the coconut flour?
If you want to substitute the coconut flour, you can replace it with two tablespoons of almond flour.
What is the best nonstick cooking spray to use?
We used a duck fat spray to coat the waffle iron, but you can also use an avocado oil spray. You can melt coconut oil and brush the waffle iron with the fat if neither is available. Try to avoid conventional nonstick cooking sprays with additives and vegetable oils!
What is the serving size?
The recipe is programmed to calculate the macros for one chaffle. So if you use these on a burger you will need two, therefore, please log two servings.
