Carnivore Keto Smoked Steak
If you feel like grilling a juicy steak, but don’t want to get into the hassle of lighting up your grill, then this recipe is for you. With the coal smoking method, you can have an infused juicy steak from the comfort of your own kitchen using one piece of coal. This smoked meat recipe proves that Carnivore diet recipes can be quick, easy, and big on flavor.
Can you make this recipe using another steak cut?
Absolutely! Instead of sirloin, you can use T-bone, ribeye, New York steak, or tenderloin. Keep in mind that the cooking time will differ accordingly.
How to season Carnivore diet steak recipes?
Since the Carnivore diet limits spices, herbs, and aromatics, we use a few quality ingredients. Most of the flavor comes from the meat, so buying high-quality grass-fed beef is crucial for a delicious steak. Like most Carnivore diet recipes, fats contribute significantly to the overall taste and texture, so we suggest choosing a fatty cut. All that’s left to add is some sea salt, coarse black pepper, and grass-fed butter. Also, smoking contributes hugely to the overall flavor without adding extra ingredients.
How to smoke this Carnivore steak?
The method used in this recipe is called the coal smoking method, and it is used to add a smokey flavor at the end of cooking. To do this, place a piece of coal over your stovetop and let it light up. It will take 10-15 minutes when set on an open fire. The coal is ready once at least half of it turns red and is ashy from the outside. Take a piece of aluminum foil, concave it to become shaped like a small bowl, and place it in the pan of cooked steak you want to smoke. Transfer the coal using metal tongs to the aluminum foil. Place a slice of butter over the coal and immediately cover the pan with a lid or plate. Let your food smoke for 10 minutes without uncovering it. In the meantime, make sure you have a window opened to allow the smoke to escape. If you like the flavor of certain woodchips, you can dip a couple of pieces in oil or fat and then place them on top of the lit coal to infuse the flavor within the food.
