Keto Eggnog Smoothie

Eggnog is one of those drinks that tastes good hot or cold. If you don’t quite want the richness and carbs of a milkshake, why not go for an eggnog smoothie? Not only is it a yummy dessert, but it can be enjoyed as part of breakfast or after a workout because it’s Keto. You can make the smoothie really fast, as this is a no-bake eggnog recipe. Including alcohol in the eggnog is entirely optional, so adults and kids can have this Keto eggnog smoothie alike. Not everyone likes to stick to tradition, so if you’re the type to put a personal spin on things, this would be a fun recipe to try. Make the eggnog smoothie during hot months to keep cool or during cold-month holidays for festive fun.

Why Is Eggnog Made During Holidays?

Since eggnog is traditionally served hot, it makes sense to drink it during cold months. Eggnog was originally drunk by the British, and American colonists brought the recipe to North America. Expensive sherry was switched out for cheaper bourbon or rum. Eggnog has been drunk since colonial times around holiday gatherings, so you could say it’s a strong tradition!

How long can I keep the recipe?

Keep your eggnog smoothie in your refrigerator for up to 24 hours to avoid separation. You can prepare the eggnog in advance and keep it stored cold in your refrigerator for up to 3 days. However, most would agree eggnog tastes better when it’s made fresh. The smoothie will need to be made fresh so the consistency is right.

Please note, consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have increased susceptibility (i.e., elderly, children, pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals).

Make sure your egg yolks are clean of any whites before adding them to a mixing bowl fitted with a whisk attachment. Whip the egg yolks at high speed for several minutes; perhaps 5-7 minutes. Look for light pale yellow and thickened yolks. Then, whip the brown sugar substitute into the egg yolks, continuing until the sweetener dissolves and the eggs are again thick and pale.

At a slower speed, whip the almond milk and heavy cream into the stand mixer. You can add the remaining ingredients as well. If you are including alcohol in the eggnog smoothie, do NOT add it yet. Whip all of the ingredients at the highest speed you can for 4-5 more minutes. Watch for the mixture to thicken slightly, as the cream will actually whip somewhat. Plus, the extra air you’ve incorporated from whipping makes the eggnog thick and creamy

Pour the eggnog into your blender. At this point, you can add an alcohol of your choice if you want to. Include several ice cubes (about 5 per serving) with the eggnog. Blend the eggnog until you have a smoothie consistency, adding more ice as needed. Taste the smoothie and add any liquid stevia drops if needed. Pour each smoothie into an 8-ounce glass. You can garnish the eggnog smoothie with more cinnamon at your discretion.
