Low Carb Basic Bloody Mary

Create this scratch-made Bloody Mary mix with some pantry staples. Then, get creative to personalize your mix to the basic profile flavor in this recipe. To start you off, this recipe’s Bloody Mary mix is briny and a little spicy. You are welcome to adjust any of the ingredients as necessary to suit your taste. All you need is a shot of your favorite vodka! Choose any brand that you prefer, but avoid flavored vodka and mixes. If you decide to make a Keto Bloody Mary with a pre-made mix brand, check the carbs on the nutrition label. Keep the amount of mix you use down to 4 ounces instead of the traditional 8 ounces so you don’t go over your macros for the day.

What makes the ultimate Bloody Mary?

Just like grandma’s cooking, everyone has their two cents to chip in on the perfect Bloody Mary mix. This recipe is incredibly versatile. When making your own Keto Bloody Mary mix, a good rule of thumb is to start with 4oz plain tomato juice. The ingredients listed in this recipe are very basic ingredients used in all Bloody Mary mixes. However, these ingredients are low-carb, you can adjust the amount of each one to your tastes. Choose your favorite brand of hot sauce (or none at all) to customize the flavor. Add other Keto seasonings such as onion powder or celery salt if you’d like. You can also choose from a variety of Keto garnishes! Olives, pickles, celery sticks, cheese cubes, or even mini cheeseburgers are all amazing Keto Bloody Mary garnishes!

Which vodka brands are Keto-friendly?

The good news on alcohol is pure alcohols are very Keto-friendly! Vodka, rum, tequila, gin, etc all have 0g carbs. For basic vodka cocktail recipes, you can choose any brand of vodka that fits your budget best. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get away with the convenience of pre-mixed cocktails. When it comes to mixers, you’ll need to make some substitutions.

Where do the carbs in this recipe come from?

Bloody Marys don’t have added sugars, but that tomato juice will rack up your carbohydrates quickly if you don’t stay aware. For a Keto Bloody Mary, simply turn it into a short drink by reducing it to a 4oz drink instead of a more classic 8oz drink. A half-cup of tomato juice is usually 5g carbs, so a “Sunday bloody” won’t knock you off track for the week!
