Keto Slow Cooker Dairy-Free Hot Cocoa

Your family, especially your kiddos, will love this Keto slow cooker recipe for hot chocolate! This Keto dairy-free slow cooker hot cocoa recipe is one that even your non-Keto acquaintances will love and enjoy. Delicious organic cocoa powder and rich canned coconut milk are combined in the slow cooker pot until perfectly hot. Monk fruit is then added to sweeten the mix. The mixture is gently heated in the slow cooker so it is hot and ready when needed! Using a slow cooker for hot cocoa is convenient because you can combine everything before going outside in the snow or cold, but when you return, you will have lovely hot cups of cocoa awaiting you!

What is the best coconut milk to use?

The best type of coconut cream to use is canned coconut milk. This is because canned coconut milk is full-fat, creamy, and delicious. It is the perfect ingredient for those on Low Carb and Keto diets. Coconut milk has been said to have many health benefits due to its antifungal, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also rich in electrolytes which is great for small children and adults as it is full of potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus.

Can you top this hot chocolate with whipped cream?

Yes! If you can incorporate the extra calories, feel free to top the hot chocolate with additional coconut cream. You can buy cans of coconut cream from most large supermarkets these days. Do not shake the can before you open it. Simply open the can, scrape off the thick layer of coconut cream, and place a dollop in the hot cocoa.

Why is the water added to the recipe?

Canned coconut milk is quite rich, but it is thankfully low carb. We added water to make it consistent with milk, making it drinkable and delicious.

What other sweeteners can I use?

We like to use monk fruit as it is very gut-friendly. However, feel free to use stevia or erythritol! You can also do a 50/50 blend of a couple of sweeteners to make a more sugar-like taste.
