Easy Keto Khobz

Traditional khobz is a homemade Morrocan bread served at nearly every meal. This Keto-friendly version is easy to make and will give you mind-blowing results. Our easy Keto khobz takes only 10 minutes to prepare and about 15 minutes of baking time which is absolutely perfect for when you're in a hurry and want to prepare something easy yet delicious. It pairs perfectly with low-carb veggies or some cheese. This bread is also an excellent side to your Keto lunch or dinner. You can sprinkle the bread with some seeds, but that's completely optional. Enjoy!

How to store this bread?

Keto khobz is best served fresh, but you can wrap the leftovers in a kitchen cloth and serve them the next day. We don't recommend storing the bread for multiple days because it will lose its quality.

Can I replace the olive oil?

Olive oil has a unique flavor not everybody likes. You can replace it with the same amount of cream cheese. The bread will be equally delicious.

Lovely recipe - I made this with red onion both mixed into the dough and sprinkled on top, and a generous sprinkling of grana padano too. My mum quickly ate hers and then looked at my dad like ‘are you eating your remaining pieces cos if not…’ but he wasn’t letting her get close :-) I’d like to try this again with herbs and seeds next as mentioned in the recipe notes.

I plan to make the bread today. I live alone, I am wondering how long the bread can last in the fridge ?

So each circle (2 total, correct?) would be 4 pieces/4 servings?

          Exactly! :)

Just to be clear -- do I understand correctly that the entire recipe yields 8 pieces, so that each round is cut unto 4 pieces? The instructions say to prepare 2 baking trays but mentions pouring batter onto only 1 tray. I presume we bake only 1/2 the recipe at a time, the second tray going into the oven when the first tray comes out to cool. Is that right?

I agree it's a bit high, but it's a fathead dough. It's based on cheese and almond flour, which are high in calories (but also in fats, which is good). Divide the dough into two equal pieces and spread each into an approximately 1/4 - 1/3-inch thick disc. 1/4 of each disc is your serving portion. I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions - we're happy to answer. :)

So 164 calories per little slice? That seems a bit high. And how do we know what thickness and size those nutrient measurements came from?

          recipewriter 2 years ago

          That is correct. :)

This is the best keto bread (and i have tried a lot of them). After making it several times i have made some changes i use a bit more olive oil, omit the garlic powder, then before baking i top with a coarse salt,, some nigella seed, some dried onion flakes, and sometimes some fennel seed. It becomes sort of an ‘everything’ khobz, and it has a texture chewy not unlike a bagel.

This looks tasty. I'm wondering if it might make a good pizza crust, too? Once baked, is it soft or crispy? TIA

It's soft and it would make a great pizza crust.
