Recipe Steps

  • Step 1

Prepare the catfish nuggets by slicing the catfish into 1 or 2-bite sized pieces. You should get approx. 16 pieces total.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

In a bowl, combine the grated parmesan, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. In another bowl, crack and whisk a single egg. Set these two bowls aside with the catfish.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

*Please use 1 cup of vegetable oil for this step. In a large, shallow pan, heat the vegetable oil on high heat. When the oil is heated, dip each catfish nugget, one by one, into the egg, then the parmesan mixture, and then into the hot oil. Cook the catfish nuggets for around 3 minutes per piece, flipping them halfway through, until the outside is golden brown and crunchy.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Set the cooked catfish nuggets on a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Meanwhile, make the avocado dip by combining all remaining ingredients in a food processor. Mix these ingredients until you get a smooth, creamy, and slightly loose dipping sauce. Enjoy!

Delicious. The vote from my daughters, “fantastic! Make it again!!!!” * note.... cut sauce in half. Too much sauce for the amount of fish.*

This is a great fish coating we will use on a whole filet next time instead of doing nuggets. Also the coating was tasty enough that it did not need the avocado sauce. Also there was WAY too much avocado sauce for this amount of nuggets. O

Is 361 calories for 4-6 nuggets correct or is it 1802 because I notice in your previous comment you’re confirming with some else that it is 1802 per serving.

The info doesn't include the cup of oil. So really you are ingesting far more calories with each bite than is listed here.

Hi there, Although up to 1 cup of oil is needed for frying the nuggets, not all this oil gets ingested. The amount of oil listed in the ingredients does accurately reflect the calories consumed in this recipe. Hope this information helps!

There are 431 calories in a pound of catfish and 322 in a whole avacodo. Where are all of these calories coming from? Parmesan cheese?

According to your nutrition info, one nugget with sauce is 1802.7 calories. Is this correct? How many nuggets are in a serving?

It may have been corrected since this question was , but currently the recipe shows that 1802.7 calories are in one serving, meaning 4-6 nuggets with sauce, which seems correct.
