Quick and Easy Keto Halva
This sweet Keto treat is our low carb adaptation of traditional sesame halva. Our Keto confection is prepared with tahini, coconut oil, low carb maple-flavored syrup, and a touch of coconut cream. Once the ingredients have been blended, they are simply set in the freezer until they reach a fudge-like consistency. Perfect to have on hand as a daytime snack or post-dinner dessert.
What Is Halva?
Popular in Middle Eastern cuisine, halva is typically prepared with tahini and has a similar consistency to fudge. The tahini is commonly blended with a caramel-style sugar syrup and can be flavored with spices, and chopped nuts may be added for texture. For our quick and easy Keto adaptation of this classic recipe, we have blended the tahini with maple-flavored syrup for sweetness, coconut cream for extra creaminess, and coconut oil to help firm and set.
Is There an Alternative to Tahini?
Tahini is prepared by grinding sesame seeds to a smooth paste. If sesame is unsuitable for your dietary needs, you may substitute with a smooth almond butter, swapping like for like in the same quantities. The flavor will obviously be different, but you will still achieve that creamy fudge-like texture. Please be sure to adjust your macros to account for any changes made to the original recipe.
