Do I have to use "kosher" salt even if I'm not Jewish?
Iduna a year ago
Kosher salt is the preferred salt of chefs because it lacks impurities, including iodine. Much of "kosher" salt is not certified as kosher. It is only named as such because it is the preferred salt when koshering meat for the reasons mentioned above and due to its texture. It has nothing to do with a user's religion. Haven't you ever wondered how iodized table salt is perfectly cut into symmetrical crystals? It's not found in nature that way, it's cut with chemicals. You would be hard-pressed to find a chef anywhere and of any religion that cooks with table salt. I'm not sure why you would rate down this recipe based upon a single ingredient.

No but it’s coarse salt, not table salt 🤦🏽♀️

I used a tiny ice cream scoop and ended up with 24 bites. Also, instead of almond butter, I used Richards creamy peanut butter, which has only 1 net carb per serving. I made my own "powdered sugar" by running monkfruit through my bullet blender. You can do this with any solid sugar substitute. Run the numbers on your recipe on your own, because my bites ended up at 50 calories per each and 1 net carb each. This seems like a good base recipe to make your own flavor combos. Store in the freezer because otherwise they are pretty soft.

Great tips thank you! Where do you get monkfruit?

Anyone has issues with the serving size? Just by pure math, the total grams of the recipe is less than the total grams of the balls. There’s no way 1 ball can be 3.5 oz/ 100g if the ingredients for 10 balls is around 210g.

Says makes 20 balls

I enjoyed this. I made 10 instead of 20 though.

I had to add more peanut butter because my balls wouldn't stick together. The dough came out really dry. It tasted delicious though.

Used a bit more salt than called for. These feel almost indulgent. So good.

Can I substitute the almond butter with anything? I don’t have any on hand 😅
Lilbuni2004 4 years ago
I use cashew butter

I had the mixture come out really thin. What should I do if that happens?

Any feedback to this? Same here. Turned out like brownie batter.

I didn't have enough almond butter, so I used both crunchy peanut and almond butter. The crunch peanut butter added a great extra crunch to the chocolate chips.

How many is one serving?
FantasticArugula267484 4 years ago
If you make 20 per batch then a single serving is one

Delicious! We started calling them Timbits it’s due to look and they are great snacks on the go! Query: has anyone tried baking them or modifying them to be more of a cooked brownie treat?

Is it actually 90 calories per bite? They look pretty small.
