Low Carb Icy Mocha Smoothie

Make your morning coffee refreshing! Instead of waiting for cold brew coffee to get cold, prepare a tray of coffee ice cubes instead! Whenever you want an icy drink, blend the coffee ice cubes in with your other coffee ingredients.

What is a mocha?

Short for caffe mocha or mocha latte, a mocha is a chocolate-flavored coffee beverage made with espresso, chocolate, and steamed milk. It comes in many flavors, such as white chocolate mocha, crème Brule mocha, and many more. In this recipe, we have decided to go with plain chocolate mocha.

What cocoa powder should you use?

You might think you can grab any cocoa powder off the shelves of the baking aisle, but check the nutrition label on your container. Many cocoa powders include added sugars when packaged. The other thing you need to make sure of is that you’re using 100% cocoa powder. What makes a chocolate bar taste extra good is the varying degrees of milk and sugar added to the cacao. A 100% cocoa powder will have no dairy or milk powder and no sugar added, making it as Keto as it can be. 100% cocoa powder is great for dusting over Keto desserts for a hint of chocolate flavor. Don’t pile it on though - bitter chocolate doesn’t taste great in mass amounts!

What other mocha flavors can you make?

You can flavor this Keto mocha beverage by adding almond extract, peppermint extract, vanilla extract, or rum, just to name a few.

I loved it. I also added 1 tbsp of natural peanut butter.
