Keto Blackberry Basil Cocktail
This refreshing cocktail is made with simple, fresh ingredients. Fresh blackberries make a deliciously flavorful, organic base for your Keto drink. Make sure to rinse your berries well before muddling in your cocktail glass! For this recipe, choose a glass with a wide base. In the original recipe here, a stemless wine glass was used. The wider base allows space for the blackberry juice to infuse the rest of your cocktail as well as plenty of ice. A hint of fresh basil and a lime-flavored seltzer complement the blackberries, ensuring they’re the star of the show. You may enjoy this Keto cocktail best at peak berry season, but it’s refreshing any time of year.
What are some substitutions that you can make for this recipe?
It is mentioned in the recipe directions that you can choose your favorite vodka brand as well as substitute the berries and fresh herbs to keep this Keto cocktail recipe exciting and delicious. If blackberries are not your preferred flavor, raspberries can be directly substituted in the recipe. Treat them exactly the same as you would the blackberries. If you like both, try a fruity combination! While blueberries would also make a yummy fruit cocktail base, the skins will give you a little extra work. Either peel the skins off your blueberries or pulse them in a blender. After blending, strain the blueberry juice to avoid any bits of skin getting into your cocktail.
Can you use a different herb?
Instead of basil, try lemon-basil, rosemary, or a bit of mint for new flavor combinations.
Can you make this cocktail sweeter?
If you’re new to the Keto diet, going sugar-free can be challenging! Your body has a hard time telling the difference between white sugar and sweeteners, so even Keto desserts or other recipes using sweeteners need to be kept to a minimum. Using liquid stevia can be one of the most effective ways to satisfy your sweet tooth. Just 2-4 drops of liquid stevia are equivalent to 1 teaspoon of white sugar. At your discretion, you may add more drops to your cocktail than suggested in the recipe. Another way you can evenly distribute sweetener in your Keto cocktail is to make a mock-simple syrup. No cooking is required here since stevia does not have the same chemical properties as sugar. Simply substitute 1 fluid ounce of the seltzer water with plain tap water mixed with 4 additional drops of liquid stevia. Pour this concoction over the ice with the vodka to make your cocktail sweeter.

Step 1
First, gather your ingredients; this includes vodka, blackberries, basil leaves, ice, seltzer water, and stevia. Choose your favorite vodka brand for this recipe, since vodka doesn’t contribute any carbs. If you want to use flavored vodka, check to ensure there is no sugar added.Step 2
Create the blackberry base by muddling the berries to a complete pulp using a fork, the back of a spoon, or a mortar and pestle. Once you’ve finished, use your chosen utensil to press the muddled berries through a sieve or baker’s cloth to extract the juice into your desired cocktail glass. Then, gently muddle the fresh basil in the blackberry juice followed by 4 or more drops of liquid stevia.Step 3
Next, fill your cocktail glass with ice. Pour the vodka over the ice. Finally, gently pour your preferred flavor of seltzer over the ice to fill the glass - approximately 8 fluid ounces- and enjoy with a fresh basil garnish.
