Keto Best Marinated Tempeh
If you’re new to Keto or incorporating Vegan recipes into your diet, please enjoy this easy Keto tempeh recipe. The steps will walk you through the simple way to prepare soybean tempeh. You’ll also be walked through an equally easy Keto tempeh marinade made with soy sauce. A touch of Worcestershire sauce and some garlic are added to the marinade, but feel free to add more spices or herbs that you’d enjoy. Some sweetness is added with Keto-friendly brown sugar made with erythritol. Tempeh is a great product for marinating, so it will absorb the flavors well. Cook the tempeh after you marinate it in some healthy avocado oil, and the recipe is done!
Can you eat tempeh on Keto?
Tempeh is Keto-friendly and Vegan. It’s made of fermented soybeans that are packed into a dense cake. Not only is tempeh low in carbs, but it’s a good source of protein. For those on any special diets aside from Keto, this can be really helpful. Keto tempeh recipes are easy to make because tempeh is super easy to slice, dice, fry, bake, grill, or cook in any way you like.
What is tempeh exactly?
Tempeh originates from Indonesia, and it’s made by fermenting soybeans with a special type of fungus. After they ferment, they’re packed into a dense cake. It may sound strange to you, but tempeh has a very mild and nutty flavor. Many have said tempeh is similar to tofu. Tempeh absorbs flavors well, so it’s easy to marinate. It’s also easy to cut into all sorts of shapes and sizes, which makes it so useful on a Vegan diet.
How should I serve tempeh?
If you enjoy the simple things, you can pair pieces of cooked marinated tempeh with a dipping sauce. For main course Keto tempeh recipes, try dicing the caramelized, golden tempeh and serving it over a salad. If you have Vegan Keto tortillas or wraps on hand, tempeh can substitute as a taco filling. If you slice the tempeh thin before you marinate it, some say it tastes like Vegan bacon. Do you have a favorite way to enjoy Keto marinated tempeh? Let other users know in the comments!

Step 1
Prepare tempeh by removing it from its packaging and patting away any excess water with a paper towel. You can slice the tempeh into julienne or rectangular pieces, triangle pieces, or cubes. Add all your pieces to a large mixing bowl.Step 2
Create the marinade by whisking together soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar erythritol, and minced garlic in a separate bowl or dish. Then, pour the marinade over your mixing bowl of tempeh. Toss the tempeh until all the pieces are coated in marinade.Step 3
Cover the bowl and marinate the tempeh in your refrigerator for a minimum of one hour. However, tempeh is dense and can marinate for many hours or overnight. Use a spoon to toss the tempeh in your marinade every half hour or hour, depending on how long you’re marinating.Step 4
When you’re ready to cook the Keto marinated tempeh, start heating all the avocado oil on high heat in a frying pan on the stove. Add the tempeh pieces and any excess marinade to the pan of oil, and let the tempeh fry on one side until they have crispy-golden edges. Use a pair of tongs or a fork to flip the frying tempeh over to finish cooking on its other side.Step 5
After cooking on both sides, the tempeh should be caramelized and darkened all over from the marinade. Serve the marinated tempeh as is while hot. You can also choose a Keto dipping sauce to pair with the tempeh.
