Low Carb Baked Camembert with Caramelized Onions

6 ratings

Rich and indulgent, this whole baked Camembert makes a decadent lunch or a luxurious snack - it also makes a tasty treat for dinner party guests!

The cheese is complemented perfectly by sweet caramelized onions and topped with crushed pecans for added texture.

The recipe calls for ready boxed Camembert -this is ideal for baking in!

The serving suggestion is for one person, however this would work just as well as a shared snack or side for 2 people.

The only sugar or sweetener allowed on a French Camembert should be natural honey directly from harvest to the top of the cheese. Select a good French camembert from Normandie (only one that are truly Camembert as it is a protected label) Enjoy hot from the oven or BBQ with a spoon🤩

I prefer to warm the cheese and eat it without all the added garbage, especially the sweetener. Have yet to find a worthwhile recipe in Carb Manager

The sweetener is to assist with the carmelizing of the onions. You’re going to one-star a recipe just because you prefer the cheese without added flavors? That’s on you. Perhaps others love the taste of carmelized onions and rosemary with their cheese. A recipe isn’t “bad” because you have bland preferences 🤔. I have found many delicious recipes on here, but then again, I don’t eat like a toddler…

I'm confused about serving sizes.... within the recipe it suggests you can have the whole cheese and then later it says serving size is 70.9g.

Compare the calorie information on the cheese package with the total calories for one serving. You will see the nutrition information on the cheese itself is about 100 cal/serving, and if you make and eat the entire wheel, it’s over 800 cal.
