Recipe Steps

  • Step 1

Combine the cilantro, jalapeno, lime juice, and first amount of olive oil in a food processor. If you don’t like spicy flavors, you can deseed the jalapeno or halve the jalapeno. Pulse until you get a loose, even mixture.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Prepare 2, 4-oz. tuna steaks by sprinkling the salt and pepper on the tops of each. Then, flip the steaks over. Use the back of a spoon to spread the cilantro mixture over all exposed edges of the tune - tops and sides.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Heat the second amount of olive oil in a medium-sized skillet on medium-high heat. Place the tuna steaks in the oil with the salt and peppered sides down. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the tuna is to your preferred doneness.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

If there is extra jalapeno-lime sauce, you can serve this with the tuna. Enjoy!

Can I do this on the grill? The jalapeño and lime on one side?

This was too spicy for me. I will make the ahi tuna again, but I will change the topping, maybe use less jalapeño as suggested above

This was a fantastic recipe I added 2 teaspoons of shredded parm cheese and smoked it in the Traeger at 225 topped with shrimp ceviche and crushed pork rinds perfect on top of garlic cauliflower mash. Fantastic

Wow this was so good and easy to make. Next time I’m going to sear both sides of the tuna steak and use the cilantro dressing after I cook it. Very tasty!!!

What would macros be if you subbed chicken breast for the fish?

Where are all the carbs coming from in this recipe? The jalapeno and cilantro are the only items with carbs, and the amount per serving can't be this much.

Each serving is only 3g carbs, which comes from the coating of jalapeno, cilantro, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Hope this helps!

Just delicious and so fast and easy! I used cod and it was perfect. I added a clove of garlic and a dash of cumin and ground coriander to the sauce. This will be a regular on our menu!
