Keto French Dip Skillet
Who doesn’t love a one-skillet meal? First, you’ll make your own French au jus in a pot by stewing tons of thin-sliced roast beef with spices. Then, everything goes into a skillet or pan with some added fat. The au jus is thickened with butter and then cooked down in a saucy, creamy filling. No skillet is complete without cheese! Your Keto French dip skillet is topped off with a layer of swiss cheese. It may not be French, but swiss cheese perfectly complements the meal.
What is a Keto French dip?
The French dip refers to the French dip sandwich. Traditionally, French dip sandwiches are made with crusty white bread soaked with beef-flavored au jus. The bread is piled with slices of roast beef that have been cooked in the au jus, and more au jus is served on the side for dipping. This Keto French dip version turns the sandwich into a skillet so you can cut out carbs. It has lots of hot roast beef, thickened au jus sauce, and a cheesy final layer.
How to serve the skillet
The French dip skillet has a lot of thickened sauce for dipping your roast beef into. You might have some excess sauce, so why not use Keto-friendly bread to soak up the extra? You can buy Keto bread at some stores since the Keto diet has grown in popularity, or you can make your own. This skillet would taste really good with our Keto French Bread recipe.
Meal prepping
You can also meal prep this skillet! Instead of sharing it with others, split the servings across meal prep containers for lunch or dinner. For a low-carb side, it’s recommended you pair the skillet with vegetables sauteed in olive oil or butter. You could also eat the warm skillet meal with spinach or other greens.

Recipe Steps

Step 1
Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes to a pot on the stove. Bring the ingredients to a simmer. Then, add all the slices of roast beef to the simmering broth, one at a time. Thinly-sliced roast beef will be best for this recipe.Step 2
Stir and simmer the beef slices in the developing au jus for up to 10 minutes. Next, grab a large saute pan or skillet and melt the butter in it over low heat. Once the butter is melted, scoop all of your roast beef from the pot into the pan. Pour all of the remaining au jus into the pan but reserve about ⅓ of the liquid in the pot.Step 3
Bring the pan full of beef and au jus to a simmer. You’ll need to simmer the ingredients down until the butter and liquid emulsify - about 10 minutes or so. Wait for your reserved liquid to cool down before whisking tapioca flour into it to thicken it. After it thickens, reduce the heat on your pan of beef so the au jus is just hot - not bubbling. Pour and stir the thickened liquid into your pan of beef.Step 4
Let the pan of thickened au jus bubble over low heat and thicken further. Once you have a saucy skillet (not soupy), place slices of swiss cheese on top of the skillet. Let the cheese melt over low heat and then serve your French dip skillet hot. It’s best served with slices of toasted Keto bread for dipping

Winner, winner beef dinner! This is awesome. Made it for dinner and hubby wanted it for lunches for the week. Cannot find tapioca flour so I use zanthan gum. Works fine.
