Keto Hot Toddy

The hot toddy is a classic hot alcoholic drink that’s enjoyed during cold weather or holiday seasons. It’s really easy to make a batch of Keto alcohol drinks when you use this recipe. Just heat up some water in a kettle or on your stove, stir in a couple of ingredients, and you have yourself a hot toddy! Use this recipe as a starting point to add other flavors to make it more personal. A Keto hot toddy can include regular garnishes, like lemon slices and cinnamon sticks. You can also steep whole spices in the hot toddy like you would tea. In Step 2 of the recipe, include a whole cinnamon stick, an anise star, an allspice berry, or a grating of nutmeg. You can steep these items in the hot water and remove them for serving.

What is a ‘toddy’?

The hot toddy is an old, traditional drink, so it’s harder to say these days exactly who invented the hot toddy. Many believe it was drunk as far back as the 18th century. However, the term ‘toddy’ is coined by one Dr. Robert Todd who would prescribe scotch or whiskey with hot water to patients in the 19th century.

Other Keto liquors I can use

Many would say that bourbon and whiskey can sometimes be interchangeable. To make a hot toddy, you can use whiskey, scotch, or bourbon. Choose a brand and flavor you prefer, since this is your Keto alcohol drink to enjoy. Focus on smooth flavors that blend well with lemon and honey.
