Keto Best Sunflower Seed Butter
Healthy, salty, creamy: sunflower seed butter is your next pantry staple. Forget paying for overpriced jars at the store. You can cut your costs in half making your own at home in just a few easy steps. It takes almost no time at all to make Keto sunflower seed butter, and it can last for weeks in your refrigerator! The great thing about sunflower butter is it only needs one ingredient: sunflower seeds. Simply roast the seeds to release their healthy oils, then blend the seeds into a creamy butter. Spready sunflower butter just like peanut butter or use it in baking and cooking. Keto sunflower butter can also be used to make Keto cookies, brownies, fat bombs, sauces, condiments, and all sorts of creative recipes.
Sunflower seed nutrition
Sunflower seeds have a little less than 5 grams of fat per tablespoon. That same tablespoon has only about 2 grams of carbs with half its carbs coming from fiber. Sunflower seeds have a little protein too. They’re also a source of B vitamins, iron, and manganese.
What you can add to your sunflower butter
Ideally, all you should need to make sunflower seed butter is sunflower seeds. If your butter seems too thick, you can add a little oil to it to thin it out. Try olive oil or avocado oil. You can also sweeten your seed butter with liquid stevia, erythritol, or monk fruit. Instead of salting the butter yourself, just blend salted sunflower seeds to skip a step.
What type of blender to use
Using a food processor would be the best appliance to use to blend your sunflower butter, especially for larger batches. The original recipe here was made with a bullet blender, which also works. A standing countertop blender may work for larger batches too, but you may have the most difficulty using this method. Step 1
Preheat an oven to 350 F (180C) and line a baking sheet. Spread your choice of salted or unsalted hulled sunflower seeds across the tray. Roast the tray of sunflower seeds in your oven for about 10 minutes or until they start to turn golden and release some oil.Step 2
Let the sunflower seeds cool for a few minutes before moving on. While they’re still warm (not hot), blend the seeds in a food processor or blender. After blending the seeds for about 60 seconds or so, you should have a thick mixture that might collect into a ball.Step 3
Keep blending the sunflower seeds in increments, scraping your blender down with a rubber spatula between blending. Eventually, a creamy and smooth butter will come together. Adding salt, olive oil, or a sweetener to the sunflower butter is optional but not necessary to the recipe.
