Keto Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

Your family, especially your kiddos, will love this Keto slow cooker recipe for hot chocolate! This Keto slow cooker hot chocolate recipe is one that even your non-Keto acquaintances will love and enjoy. Delicious organic cocoa powder and heavy cream are combined in the slow cooker pot until perfectly hot. Monk fruit is added to sweeten the mix. The mixture is gently heated in the slow cooker so it is hot and ready when you need it! Using a slow cooker for hot chocolate is convenient because you can combine everything before going outside in the snow, but when you return, you will have lovely hot cups of cocoa awaiting you!

What is the best heavy cream to use?

The best type of heavy cream to use is organic cream. Be sure to use a cream that has no added stabilizers. Better yet is sourcing cream that is grass-fed, so it has a higher vitamin and Omega-3 fatty acid content.

Can you top this hot chocolate with whipped cream?

Yes! If you can incorporate the extra calories, feel free to top the hot chocolate with additional whipped cream. You can easily whip the cream by hand or with a hand mixer. Add monk fruit to taste to sweeten it.

Why is the water added to the recipe?

Heavy cream is quite rich, but it is low carb compared to whole milk. We added water to make it the same consistency as whole milk without all the additional carbs, so you can sip and enjoy!

Why does this recipe call for two sweeteners?

We like the taste of erythritol blended with stevia as it has the most sugar-like taste without as much of the aftertaste of most sweeteners. If you could only choose one sweetener, opt for erythritol only and substitute the stevia 1:1 with it.

  • Step 1

In the pot of a slow cooker, combine the heavy cream, water, cocoa powder, sweeteners, and a pinch of salt. Feel free to substitute the stevia 1:1 with powdered erythritol instead. Stevia tends to have a bitter aftertaste, so it is best to use both sweeteners or only erythritol.

Whisk well to combine the cocoa powder. Place the slow cooker on high. Cook for about 2 hours or until hot. One hour is warm enough for small children to enjoy.

How long can the leftover hot chocolate be stored? Do you refrigerate it once it has cooled? Sounds easy, and delish!

Hello! Thank you for your message! When I developed this recipe, I stored it in my fridge in a glass mason jar for up to one week. It was great because my kids could enjoy it several days later too! I hope you enjoy :)
