Low Carb Mai Tai
Mai tai cocktails are notorious for a flowing blend of colors and a boozy taste. Don’t worry, this Carb Manager Keto alcohol drink recipe isn’t any less exciting! Your mai tai is made with two types of rum as well as natural juices from lemons, limes, and oranges. Sweeten the mai tai to your liking with liquid stevia drops. Follow along to make a few Keto adjustments from your standard mai tai recipe to one that’s just as simple. Skip the hollowed-out pineapple and go right for a big, tall glass to serve your extra-large mai tai in. You can make this alcoholic recipe for a crowd or just make one drink easily for yourself.
Keto changes to your mai tai
The mai tai drinks you’ve seen at the bar are often loaded with sugar. You will be substituting Keto ingredients in lieu of orange liqueur, syrup, and sometimes grenadine. Instead of orange liqueur, you can use natural citrus juices. Instead of flavored syrups, you can add the flavors without adding the syrup. Then, sweeten the drink to your liking with liquid stevia drops.
Other Keto sweeteners
Liquid stevia drops are the most recommended for sweetening beverages because they have zero carbs. If you don’t have liquid stevia, you can use powdered or granulated erythritol. A monk fruit blend can also be used. However, use these sweeteners sparingly since they will add carbs.

Step 1
Mai tais are typically made with something called orgeat syrup. Instead, you’ll be making your own similar flavor blend using almond extract, rose water or rose flavoring, and liquid stevia. Additionally, choose both a light and dark rum for the recipe that you will want to use.Step 2
Combine only the light rum, all the lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice, almond extract, rose water, and liquid stevia into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until you feel the drink turn cold in your hands. Fill a new, large glass with ice and strain the mai tai over the ice.Step 3
To finish the drink, pour the dark rum over the top of the drink. Don’t stir the rum in, but let it naturally float down. Enjoy your cold drink garnished with a wedge of orange or lemon.
