Keto Air Fryer Three Cheese Avocado Spears

Looking for a fun and easy Keto snack recipe that’s also quick to make? These Keto air fryer three-cheese avocado slices will blow your mind when you learn there is no breading involved! Well, unless you count the cheese as ‘breading’. That’s right: no almond flour and no pork rinds. This recipe effectively cuts out unnecessary carbohydrates and leaves your low protein intake for your main dish. As a Quick and Easy recipe, you could easily include the kids or a small group to help dip the avocado spears and roll them in cheese. This will cut down on your prep time (one would hope) or give you the ability to make larger batches of this recipe for a crowd. Included in this intro are suggestions for flavors and accompanying dipping sauces you may try.

We Scream For Three Cheese!

How is it possible that avocado spears need only cheese to have a crispy, crunchy breading? There are three things that come into play. Using egg as opposed to cream to dip the avocado into gives the cheese a stable surface to melt and harden on while in the air fryer. Including parmesan cheese is a big key-factor as well. As a hard cheese, parmesan is an important ingredient to utilize in the Keto diet when you’re trying to copy your favorite fried or baked foods. The third factor is the air fryer itself! Air fryers use forced air at a high speed in a small-volume area, which is how food cooks faster and gets crispy without breading. You can experiment by substituting other mild cheeses in place of the cheddar and jack cheeses. As long as you keep the parmesan, you can try different flavor combos! Pepper jack, Mexican-blend cheese, provolone, and mozzarella are all Keto-friendly cheeses.

Dipping Sauces For Three Cheese Avocado Spears

This Keto snack recipe is perfectly delicious on its own. However, a Keto condiment would certainly spice things up! Without a recipe, some yummy dipping sauces for your avocado spears are sour cream, Greek yogurt, brown mustard, or a hot wing sauce. Just make sure to check the nutrition labels to ensure you’re in a healthy limit of carbohydrates. Other options are the Carb Manager Keto Vegan Guacamole or Keto Salsa Verde. For a cool and creamy dip, you can make the Carb Manager Keto Feta Dip w/ Scallions and Lemon. For more options, head to the Carb Manager search bar, and Under “Snacks”, search the term “dip”. Let users know in the comments what you dipped your avocado spears in to!

  • Step 1

Prep the ingredients before turning on your air fryer. Line the air fryer trays with parchment paper and set them aside. In a small bowl, whisk together an egg. On a wide plate, mix together the shredded cheeses. Then, slice avocados in ½-inch thick pieces. Each medium-sized avocado should give you about 6 slices (3 slices per open avocado half). Choose avocados that are on the greener side - the firmer texture will be easier to handle and will soften in the air fryer.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees. One by one, dip an avocado slice into the egg, then roll in the shredded cheese mixture and arrange on the prepared air fryer trays. Use a fork to aid you in dipping the avocado slices in the egg. Keep one hand dry for rolling the avocado in the cheese. Also, make sure any excess egg drips off the avocado slices before rolling them in the cheese. Otherwise, the cheese will clump up and won’t stick to the avocado.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Bake the trays of three cheese avocado slices for 12-15 minutes, until the cheese has a crunch to it and is golden brown. You don’t need to flip the avocado slices over while baking, but check to make sure you don’t need to rotate your trays to ensure even coloring. Allow the finished avocado slices to cool for a few minutes before eating. You can adjust the amount of three cheese avocado slices you eat in your food log. The recommended amount of avocado slices for a snack or Keto side dish would be 3 pieces. Read through this recipe’s intro for suggestions on Keto dipping sauces.

Taste just like the fried avocado appetizers, so good! I only made one avocado and cooked for 13 minutes.
