Then, the tortilla is filled with fresh basil, deli-style turkey slices, and fresh whole-milk mozzarella cheese. Eat the pinwheels as part of a healthy Keto lunch or as a snack. You could even make many pinwheels to serve to a group or family as an appetizer.
What is in pesto sauce?
Pesto sauce is typically made with lots and lots of basil along with olive oil, parmesan cheese, and pine nuts. In many cases, substitutions are made in pesto sauce whether you’re making it yourself or buying it in a jar. That being said, always stay cautious of any allergens you may have by checking the ingredients list in any recipe or packaging.
Make your own pesto sauce
Want to make your own pesto sauce with fewer ingredients? Blend together basil, extra virgin olive oil, parmesan cheese, and a little salt to make a quick mock-pesto. Where can I get store-bought tortillas?
Your local grocery store or some larger-chain stores may carry Keto products. Look for tortillas with the words ‘Keto’ or ‘Low Carb’ right on the packaging. Then, check the nutrition label and ingredients list. Most Keto tortillas should only have between 4 grams and 6 grams of net carbs per serving. Keto tortillas may not be gluten-free, but they should be made with almond flour or other alternative baking ingredients.

Choose a tortilla that is either store-bought or homemade. If store-bought, it needs to be labeled specifically as ‘Keto’ or ‘Low Carb’. You can briefly warm the tortilla in a microwave if necessary so it’s more flexible for the end of the recipe.Step 2
Spread pesto sauce in a thin layer across the tortilla. Arrange whole basil leaves on top of the pesto sauce until it’s covered. Lay turkey slices flat over the pesto sauce and basil.Step 3
Cut whole-milk mozzarella into medium-thick slices or wedges, then arrange them in a row along one side of your tortilla. Fold the tortilla over the mozzarella and turkey, then continue rolling the tortilla up into a tight roll. Slice the roll into 4-6 pinwheels, then enjoy.
