Step 1
Turn on an oven to preheat to 350 F (180 C) and line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Prepare whole boneless chicken breasts by rubbing olive oil into all the flesh. Next, mix together salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder before sprinkling the seasoning mixture over the chicken. Rub the seasoning into the chicken all over.Step 2
Next, butterfly the chicken breasts without slicing all the way through the breasts. In a small bowl or dish, combine shredded mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, and chopped basil. Spoon the cheese filling into the butterflied breasts. Place two toothpicks through each breast (one on the left and one on the right) to secure the chicken breasts closed.Step 3
Use a knife to slice each large, stuffed chicken breast into two halves. Every whole chicken breast makes two servings. Place the stuffed chicken breasts on your prepared sheet tray. Then, bake the tray of chicken for 30 minutes. Make sure the cheese filling is melted and gooey and the chicken has cooked all the way through.
